Application Process

To apply to BLUR 2016, you will need to complete all stages of the application process:

  1. Complete and submit an Application Form;
  2. Email examples of your art--digitized documents, images, videos, etc.--to Professor Eric Caldwell, the director, at blurdirector@sbc.edu. If you run into size limitations, let us know, and we'll set up a share via Dropbox or Google Drive;
  3. Ask a teacher or mentor to submit a Letter of Recommendation to Professor Eric Caldwell at blurdirector@sbc.edu. Your recommender should first identify themselves, and how long they have been acquainted with you. Then they should address your strengths as an artist, how well you work collaboratively with others, your character, and how you would benefit from three weeks of intensive study in a variety of artistic media.
  4. Submit your $30 Application Fee via our secure website. Be sure to select "Blur Application Fee" from the dropdown menu "My Payment is For." 

SelectioN Process

Based on the strength of each application, the BLUR faculty will choose 36 students (12 in each concentration) to join us from 19 June to 10 July. We may alter this plan in the case of extraordinary interest. All applicants will be notified of the faculty’s decision by 7 May. The faculty may decide to take early action upon applications submitted well before the 1 April deadline.
